Sliders for Mobile Learning

Oct 12, 2015

I am creating a course in Storyline 2.  I need to insert a slider.

I will publish the course in HTML 5 for use on an iPad Air.

Does anyone have experience doing this?  I need to know if the user can slide the markers, or has to tap at each step.  Also, what is the ideal number of stops on the track?  This is my first course for a mobile device.  I appreciate any advice!  Thank you!!

There is no need to tap a HTML5-published slider, the slider thumb is dragged just like a Flash-Based slider. Make sure that the slider thumb is large enough for users to reliably 'grab' it. There is no rule for the number of steps, use however many steps your content requires. I don't know how complex your slider is and if you intend to use the Articulate Mobile Player app or access content in the iPad's Safari browser. My personal experience is that in the mobile browser, the responsiveness of more complex sliders is rather sluggish. See one example for a complex HTML5-published slider here: http://dev.keypointlearn.com/xcl73_SL2/Wall/V4DE/story_html5.html

I suggest you test your slider early on a mobile device(s) to confirm it works as expected.
