Slides freezing randomly (SWF problem?)

Jan 03, 2014

We have a rather large (roughly 200 slides) eCourse with 8 modules, a handful of actual videos, narration and animated slides. Due to client requirements, we used SWF files (video flash files, basically) as narration files. They had worked perfectly all the way through beta testing.

The past few days, we have found that the NEW narration files (SWFs) that we have imported since the beta test are causing the course to freeze. The only issue is that the course freezes rather randomly. Some people can get through fine, others can't get through ever to course completion.

What would cause these new SWF files to make the course freeze? Any alternatives out there (MP3 and other audio formats is not an option with this client due to firewall restrictions).

Thanks!

Hi Jason,

With the freezing happening randomly, it's hard to say what may be happening. You may want to check if there is any commonalities such as browser or Flash version that the users are accessing the course through. If so, then please let us know and we'll want to take a look at the .story file to do some additional testing.

There are some Flash best practices outlined here as well.
