slides load very slow after publish

Jun 19, 2013

I have made a project with a few slides containing a drag and drop excercise. It's not big yet, it's only a start, but I wanted to show it to our customer already to hear his feedback. So I published the course to try it. On my desktop, where I develop, it works good, but when I move it to the network and try with a company pc, then it goes very slow... On the 3th slide (after the menu) there are 5 objects, clicking on the objects shows different layers. When the page is loaded and I start clicking, nothing happens. I have to wait for a while (half a minute, a minute, ...) and after that it works.... The same with the following slides, every time I have to wait a while until it works...

What can be the reason?? There are not many slides, so that can't be the problem... Some slides have a lot of triggers, maybe that's the reason?? But that's the great thing about storyline, so it shouldn't be a problem...

I did notice that storyline generates a lot of .swf files, a lot more than other courses I did before, maybe that's the reason? But what can I do to avoid this??

Hi Katja!

The one thing you mentioned that caught my attention as a possible problem is that you're sharing the file on your "network". Do you mean you're trying to launch the published output files on a network drive? If so, that may be what's causing the delay.

If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:
