slides not showing up in menu

Hello,
Strange behaviour in a story file: Some slides will not turn up in the menu.
I read about all similar posts here, and every time the working solution was reset from story in the menu properties. Not in my case unfortunately.
Also, insert from project (the map icon) doesn't work. The item shows up greyed out and in Italics. But when I leave the menu, all is back to (not) normal ;-).
I found 2 workarounds:
1. create a new slide, copy the content to it and delete the initial slide...
2. Create a new heading in the menu, manually
But off course, I want to understand, not work around...
It might be that the problem is caused by duplicating slides??

That does sound odd! I'm glad you reached out about this.
What version of Storyline are you using? Can you share a few screenshots of Story View and the menu with missing slides?
Does it seem to be only duplicated slides that are missing from the menu?
I'm using Storyline 360.
Meanwhile: The 2nd workaround I mentioned is not valid: the added menu item doesn't link to a slide... I was too quick to be positive.

one of the menu with slides missing. I added slide 25 by using 'insert from project' and as you can see it has been greyed out and in italics. When I leave the menu its still not there. When I re-open the menu it's gone again.
A heading doesn't link to anything but you can insert from project, have you tried resetting your menu?
