Slides out of order despite defined pointers

Aug 07, 2014

I have a scene in which slides are consistently presented out of order, both in preview and once published. There are four of these slides. I have set the "Jump to next slide when timeline ends" both to simply "next slide" and to the explicitly named slide, but neither of these approaches work. The story view and scene view both show correct order, but preview and published views consistently show the same, incorrect order.

The first picture below shows the preview aspect. Look about six from the bottom. Notice that there is no slide "click 1st name," and there are three slides listed down there that are out of place: "click 2nd name demo," "click 3rd name demo," and "click Name checkbox." These should be following the slide, middle of the list, titled "Sorted by grade."

You can see this desired order in the second pic (3.12 --). I've also included the "jump to next slide when timeline ends" trigger in the slide "sorted by grade."

I really, really, really hope you don't just shrug and tell me to rebuild everything from scratch.

Hi Wayne,

Ah yes, the Scene/Slide/Menu that takes on it's own life! Know it well.

The first thing that comes to mind is to reset the Menu. To do this, click on the Player button from the Home tab on the ribbon toolbar.

Once the Player Properties window opens, click on the Menu button. In the lower right corner of the left panel (not the main player view) there's icon button that looks like a newspaper with a small blue arrow - Reset From Story.

This button will rearrange any menu title that's not in direct sync with what you have in Story View. Be sure to check your Story View / Scene to ensure all your slides are in the order you want. Then do the above.

Your Menu should now be in its proper order.

I've just discovered that the slides disorder occurs in another scene as well. The first picture shows my parameters, which in this case I've listed explicitly that slide 6.2 should jump to 6.3. The second picture shows the preview order (note that the last slide listed is titled "New Inquiry demo 1 of 2," but it comes after the "...2 of 2 slide." )
