Slides with Vimeo videos and resuming where they left off

Sep 17, 2019

Greetings,

I ran into a problem where a Vimeo video, embed into a regular slide, doesn't resume where the user leaves it off if s/he leaves the slide, or close the course. I know that YouTube videos can remember the user's position and that imported videos directly in slides can also do so if the slide is set to "resume saved state".

Vimeo videos? Not so much...

How do you guys have dealt with that issue? I feel like JavaScript might be used, but I am not sure...

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jean-Christophe!

That would depend how the videos are displayed on the slide.  If you have to press "play", then the video would always replay from the beginning.

Would you mind sharing your project so I can take a look? You can do so by using the "add attachment" button in this discussion. Or you can share the file privately with our Support Engineers by using this link.

Here are a few tips on using youtube videos!

Hi Jean-Christophe,

At this time, when embedding Vimeo videos there isn't a way for the video to resume playback when embedded into Storyline. While I am not able to offer much advice on Javascript, I believe you can make adjustments to the embed code that might produce the results you are looking for.

I am hoping that others in the community can chime in and provide further insights here!
