Small Highlight Around Correct Quiz Answer- Storyline 2

Oct 16, 2015

I successfully changed the highlight color the user sees when selecting their response in the quiz, but since changing the color, there is now a smaller highlight around the correct answer button! It is so bizarre!

Is it part of the color scheme? Why is this happening!

In the attachments, you'll see that the wrong answer True, has no blue ring highlight, but the right answer, False, has a small blue highlight around the button.

Hi, Rose -- Thanks for your question and for the screenshots! Sorry to see you are having this issue. Have you had an opportunity to take a look at this document on Unexpected or Erratic Behavior in SL2? Please check out the suggestions there and if issues persist, you are welcome to attach your file and I can try some testing on my end to see if I find the same result.

Hi, Rose -- Your patience is appreciated as I tested your file. I published and tested in the SCORM  Cloud to see if I encountered the same behavior, and I did. I then went ahead and double checked the formatting for each of the correct answer choice radio buttons, and confirmed that none of them are set to use a "Glow" Shape Effect. Unfortunately, I was also not able to replicate this behavior in a test file, so at this point, I would like to suggest that our Support Engineers take a closer look for you. I will go ahead and create/submit a Support ticket for you, and a member of the Support staff will be in touch via email after they have had the opportunity to review your file. Many thanks again for your patience! :)

Hi, Bob -- Thanks for reaching out! I just checked in on Rose's case and it appears the following was provided as a response from our Support Engineer, Wilbert, back in October 2015:

"I verified that it is part of the theme colors. You cannot get rid of it without deleting the hover state."

Hope that helps and please let us know if you need anything further! :)

Hi, Bob -- Thanks for your reply, and perhaps the notification didn't reach you, but a few moments ago I had shared the resolution that was reached in Rose's support case. Here again is the response from our Support Engineer, Wilbert, back in October 2015:

"I verified that it is part of the theme colors. You cannot get rid of it without deleting the hover state."

If you continue to have difficulties, please feel free to upload your file or if you'd prefer to share privately, you are welcome to use this form to send your file for confidential review. :)

HI Christie, Yes... I saw that. Not trying to be difficult, but technically, that answer is not a resolution to the issue. Your support engineers should still look into those checkboxes. Initially the checkbox in the multiple response question type works. They act a little odd in their behavior and actually CHANGE their style when swapped out. I repeated the problem multiple times, I changed the checkbox style and it changed the CA glow around the checkbox. Try it for yourself. Look at the CA checkboxes on rollover carefully after you change one of the styles. Even changing it and then re-setting it shows the same behavior. We actually made a fix by deleting the multiple choice layer on the question screen and then re-entered all the info. Essentially just making it a fresh new slide. I think the checkbox behavior is still a support ticket issue for your guys to look into and fix. Thanks.

I see, Bob! Thanks so much for the additional information and clarification, and perhaps it would be best if you were able to work in a case directly with our Support Engineers. Please use this form to create a ticket and I will happy to follow along with their progress to share additional updates here in the community for others who may benefit. :)

Hi.  I'm running into this issue, too.  Every correct answer has a highlight color around the radio button on the correct answer in the hover state.  I've tried editing the hover state to no avail.  This series of posts say there is no way to fix it except to remove the hover state.  Really?  This is how you want quizzes to function -- with the correct answer highlighted?  I have numerous tests already built with over 30 questions per test and 4 choices per question.  I'd have to go in and remove hover states from hundreds of states.  Please tell me there is a fix for this now.

Jan Morris

Thank you! I discovered that if I changed the color theme, it removed the glow around the correct answer. However, that then changed all my bullets to a different color. I will live with that rather than changing them all individually.

I would still like to know why it put the glow in there in the first place. I'll send a different file that also has the same problem. Is there a private place to load the file?

Thanks for sharing your file with me, Jan!

I also saw the blue glow effect when hovering over the correct answer--that certainly gives a clue to learners for which answer to select, doesn't it? So sorry about that!

This is happening because you're using a radio button style that is different from the default style #1.

Our team is looking into this issue, and I'll be sure to let you know if it gets resolved. In the meantime, the workaround to change the color theme was the right move.
