Has anyone had an issue with their smart guides disappearing suddenly? I have checked my settings a billion times, unchecked, re-checked, saved, restarted my computer, etc., and nothing is bringing them back. They were there on Monday and gone on Tuesday; however, they seem to randomly appear on slide layers.
Hi, Amanda -- Thanks so much for reaching out and sorry to hear of your troubles! May I ask if you are noticing this in more than one file or is it specific to just one? You may want to try importing your file into a new file., and see if you find improvement, or if issues persist, please consider these troubleshooting steps, as well.
Thanks for your response! I tried all suggestions and followed the trouble-shooting steps but none of that fixed the issue. However, my co-worker and I did some testing and the smart guides only appear on the base layer if you add a slide layer and then go back to the base layer.
Also, if you 'check' the 'snap objects to other objects' setting the smart guides do appear on the base layer. I think there is a bug in the functionality because a user shouldn't have to have this setting checked in order for the separate setting 'display smart guides when shapes are aligned' is checked. They should function independently of one another, and up until Tuesday they did for me.
Hey Amanda- I'm sorry that those ideas didn't fix your guidelines problem. It definitely sounds a little odd to me, too. Would you submit a support case so our engineers can work with you to nail down this issue? If you want, you can even upload your file to them confidentially for them to do some testing.
Also just an FYI Amanda that responding via email includes your email signature here - so you're welcome to visit this page and edit the post (an option just below your response) if you need to remove that information to not have it publicly available.
Thanks Amanda for submitting the support case and if you'd like to let us know the case number we would be happy to follow along and share any updates here in the forums.
Smart guides are temporary visual guidelines (shown in pink) that appear when you're moving objects around and two objects come into alignment with each other. They disappear as soon as you release your mouse button to drop an object into place.
I checked your file and they were working fine for me. Can you confirm what update of Storyline 360 you're using? The latest is Update 19, and you can check by going to the "Help" Tab -> "About Articulate Storyline".
Hi Chris! Thanks for the Peek -- now I can see the problem! You'll want to enable "Snap Objects to Other Objects" in the Grids and Guides window. Then, you should see the pink smart guides appear.

And I was also able to locate a similar discussion over here if you wanted to take a look. Hope that helps!

Thanks! I had no idea it would show that information but I guess that makes sense.
Thanks, Crystal! I just submitted a support case.

Has anyone been experiencing this issues with SL360? I have the smart guides turned on but they do not appear.
Hi Christopher!
Smart guides are temporary visual guidelines (shown in pink) that appear when you're moving objects around and two objects come into alignment with each other. They disappear as soon as you release your mouse button to drop an object into place.
Are these the guides you're referring to?
Hi Alyssa,
Yep! They are turned on but don't show up. I did try uninstalling and reinstalling SL.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Ashley,
I'm using v3.19.16600.0
Thanks,

Hi Christopher!
Can we swap screen recordings?
Here's a screen recording of what I see in your file. As you can see, the pink smart guides appear when I move the arrow.
Could you share a similar Peek screen recording with me? Thanks!
HI Alyssa,
Here is the recording.
Thanks,
Chris

Keep me posted on how it goes!
