Some questions about text entry questions

May 18, 2020

Hello:

First, I want to compliment you on the instructions for adding text entry questions. Very clear!

I have some questions, though:

1. I added a Submit button and instructions to click it when you're done with your answer, but in Preview, when I click Submit, nothing happens. The check mark is active, though, and when I click that, the slide advances. Is it possible that the check mark IS the submit button?

2. The Results slide shows up right when I want it to (whew). I have a Review button on that slide. When clicked, it shows the questions/answers one at a time. Is there any way to get them to show on a single slide or document?

3. I also have a Print button on the Results slide. Is this WYSIWYG - the printout will look exactly like those Results slides? I'd really like to get them all on one page (as mentioned above). And is there any way to test this functionality without Publishing?

Thanks  in advance!

Hi Lerissa,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your file!

After reviewing the file, I wanted to share what I found:

  1. For the Submit buttons, it looks like your custom submit button isn't assigned to the submit interaction trigger. Instead, it is using the built-in player submit button (the checkmark). You will want to assign your custom submit button to the submit interaction trigger to work as intended:

  2. Currently, there isn't a way to do this in Storyline. There may be community members out there who have some creative workarounds!
  3. At this time, the Print Results button is a way to allow learners print out a summary of their results. Another option is to create a certificate that can be done using this workflow: How to Create Certificates by Customizing the Report.html File

I am hoping that others in the community can also share their insights on what has worked for them!
