Sound distorted in preview

Hello everyone,
Hoping someone can help me.
I'm recording sound using a mic and saving it to the slide. I then export the sound and import to Audacity, add a fade in and fade out effect, export it from Audacity as a WAV file and then re-insert it to the slide. I've done this for previous projects and have no issues with sound. However, on my current project, when I open the Storyline audio editor everything sound good, but when I "preview" the slide the sound is distorted.
Anyone know why this is happening or how I can fix it?
Thanks!

Hi Kiran and welcome to Heroes!
First, I'd want to check that you're working with local project files that adhere to the other guidelines indicated here in terms of file names and file path length.
Also, Storyline support a wide range of audio file formats (AAC, AIF, AIFF, M4A, MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA), but not all codecs and bitrates are supported. We recommend converting your audio files to 16 bit 44 KHZ PCM WAV for best results.
If you're still having difficulty after checking into those elements we'll want to take a look at your .story file and the individual audio file.
Thanks Ashley. I realized that I had saved my project on my shared drive and that's what caused it to get distorted.
Once I copied and saved the project on to my c drive it worked.
thanks again!
Thanks for the update Kiran and glad you were able to get your file working again!
