follow up: there is a mute option in the Sound Volume option when you insert the sound onto the slide. Not sure if this is over-ridden by the volume control on the Player but could be worth investigating?
The volume button remains as this can only be switched on/off at Player level. I've done some testing for you and if you go into the Audio Editor and adjust the volume of the audio to -100% then the audio is not audible when the sound is previewed and the volume button does not change this. Why is it that you don't want the volume button to appear on just one slide?
I have a storyline project with audio and videos. At the end, we have a quiz without sound and Video. So we would like desactivate this volume button and the seekbar to be user friendly. I can deactivate the seekbar but not the volume button. I am not sure if it is possible.

You may want to add it as a feature request as it's currently an all or nothing feature...!
