Source Formatting doesn't transfer when opening files

Jun 25, 2014

hi

I'm using storyline Update 5: 1401.2415.  When I open storyline files created by other users.  The formatting on some slides are messed up.  Text not centered.  Text font size very large.  This is random.  I have to QA all the slides to check the formatting.  this happens even when I open files created in the same Storyline version I'm using.

What's happening here?  Can you please let me know how to fix this?  is there a source formatting setting I can adjust?

thanks!

Hi Rodhi and welcome to Heroes!

I'm sorry to hear about the odd behavior with your Storyline files. There are a few things I'd check into which could be contributing to the odd formatting:

  • I'd begin by confirming that you and your colleagues are working with a slide zoom of 100%. If you were working at a different zoom you'd see elements shifted or moved and the 100% zoom will show you the items as they'll display when published
  • You'll also want to check that everyone who is working on the file has the same fonts installed. If the original creators used a font that you did not have installed it would revert to system fonts.
  • I'd also check that you are both using the DPI setting recommended here for 96 DPI.
  • You'll also want to follow the guidelines here for working on local project files and collaborating with other users.

Please let us know if you continue to experience odd behavior after checking into those elements.
