Just thought I would post this, as it seems to be an odd issue.
When I do a spell check, right-click on the word and click on the correct spelling, then it replaces the misspelt word with the correct one. BUT it also deletes the word to the right of it as well?
This is bad as I have been editing a massive slide pack and fixing text that I pulled in from others' powerpoint files. And I only noticed this now. And I can't go back to fix every one again, as I don't know which had been fixed or not.
I haven't seen this reported or seen it in my own project files so I'd want to first check that you're working on local project files, as working off a network or USB can cause odd behavior. Also, are you seeing this on all your .story files or just this particular one? If it's just one you could first try importing it into a new file as described here and if it's occurring on all your files I'd look at conducting the repair next.
If the behavior persists, please let us know and it may be helpful if you're able to share the exact set up of the .story file and maybe a screen recording of this occurring?
When creating, editing, and publishing Articulate Storyline courses, be sure you're working on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources. See this article for more information.
Thanks for the replies. I never work from a network or USB drive as I've had many discussions on that with Ashley as well regarding other reports. However, I did open a brand new Storyline file from scratch and did the same test again, and it still acts out the same error. See the attachments for further details:
1. Double-click on the misspelt word as to highlight it
2. Right-click to view correct spelling suggestions
3. Select the correct spelling
4. It then deletes the word "test" to the right of it.
I will see if I can go through the repair again at a later time, as I am swamped with work for now...
Hi SL - you are not going crazy but...I would log it as a bug in SL2.
I just tested this in SL2 and you are correct. The issue is with the highlight action - when you double click to highlight it is picking up the space to the right of the word as well. If you go through the spell check on the Home Tab > Font > ABC it behaves as expected.
It works correctly in SL1 using your method of right click. While it still highlights the space to the right, when you right click and select what you want to change it to, it changes to the correct spelling and moves the text to the right as expected.
Always have to check the initial things first SL. :-)
Thanks Wendy for tracking down what the issue was - and SL, if you've filed a bug using the case form with our Support engineers let us know. If not, we'll share the information here with our QA team.
No I haven't been able to do so yet. And I guess it is as I am used to using shortcuts in my other applications, so I didn't see how it could possibly cause any issues. But I will use the ABS feature in future then. I just thought it was worth noting, as it could cause issues for future users as well.

You may want to repair your software as well.

Thanks SL - I'll document this to share with our QA team for additional review and thanks for sharing here.
No problem. :)
