State not starting as hidden
Jul 22, 2014
I have a project with several icons, the initial state is coded as hidden. When the user clicks and goes to a corresponding scene. the variable will change to true and the state of the icon will change to normal. Everything worked fine until I had to add a new icon. The state of the new icon will not start as hidden even though I copied it from an existing one, I've even re-created it and still no luck. I've attached a paired down version so you can see what is happening. I've stripped out all code & scenes for every icon except Application Security and Contacts. Application Security is the new one that won't start as hidden.

That's because the default value of your AppSec variable was set to true. Set its initial value to false like all the other variables that are used to determine when the checkmarks are displayed.
Hi Karen,
In the variable wizard try changing the default value of AppSec to false rather than true.
Hope this helps
So Simple So easy! Thank you Michael!
Hi Karen,
I had a quick look at your file and I think you may be overcomplicating things.
Assuming you can use 'resume saved state' you can achieve your functionality using states rather than layers and variables. I've made the alterations to the AppSec icon (attached file)
Hope this helps
