State of next button when revisiting slide
Apr 11, 2017
Hello my wonderful Storyline experts :). I have a slide that I have initial set the state of the next button to hidden when the timeline starts as this slide branches to 3 scenarios. I have therefore set the state of the next button back to normal when the 3 scenarios have been completed. The learner then returns to the initial slide and can then progress to the next slide - this all works fine and I have the slide set to resume to saved state when revisiting. However, as I have a trigger to change the state of the next button to hidden when the timeline starts, when the user revists the slide, there is no next button and therefore have to go through all of the scenarios again to move on even though they may only just need to revist for one small thing.
Is there another way around this so that the next button is normal when the learner revisits instead of it activiting the hidden trigger when the timeline starts please?
Thanks
Sarah

Hi Sarah
see if the attached sample helps you - I've used variables
Aw Wendy, once again, you are amazing, thankyou very much indeed that is just what I needed and should have realised myself that I could have used variables for the hidden state of the next button 'Doh!' :)
No worries Sarah - glad that will work for you ;-)

Hi LaVon
that is expected behaviour - if you need it to go to a specific slide when Previous is clicked you will need to name that slide in the Previous trigger.
I'll take a look at 1.13 now
LaVon
which version of SL are you using? I'm on SL360 v3.14 (I had to roll back for another issue)
SL360 as well.
v3.15.15453.0
Hi LaVon
Lesson 2lb...change the revisit option on the slide 1.13 to 'Automatically Decide' and it works - see this Peek video

Got the 'Automatically Decide'. ok.
I do not understand what to do with the 1.9 Activity slide. After getting to 1.11 "More About PTRC" the prev button should go back to the 1.9 Activity? If they revisit the Activity slide and they get it right it should go to 1.11. Right?
I don't see that behaviour - it works for me as expected - Peek video
This is expected behaviour - see comment above you will have to enter the actual slide number into the previous trigger if you want it to go sequentially.
Hi LaVon
1.9 works as expected for me.
If I get it wrong I go to 1.10 then click next and go to 1.11. If I click previous on 1.11 I go back to the feedback on 1.10
If I get it correct I go to 1.11 then click previous and go back to 1.9.
See Peek video
You'd need to set a variable and add a trigger if they get it correct on second visit and click the previous button that it takes them back 1.9
lesson 2 has the Result screen issue. After even passing the quiz iIdo get the Next button but if I advance to 20 and go back the Next button is not active.
See if this is the behaviour you want for 1.9
Not happening like that for me - here is Peek
Yes, that is what it should do and now mine is also working. It passed SCORMCloud the last time and this time. I am republishing and see what this version does. Thank you for being there. I will let you know.

Tell me, please. The PREV and NEXT buttons click to those exact slides unless you designate a different one. The menu is anywhere I want to go by clicking on a previously viewed slide.
Now, say I am on a slide and I want to review content on a previous slide farther back in the course. So, I use the menu to do that. I get to that slide and switch to clicking the Next button to navigate when I leave that slide. The next button will go to the next slide in the menu order not the last slide that I viewed. That is how it is supposed to work, RIGHT? QA is finding that as an error.
Thank you for your help today. REALLY! Thank you!
LaVon
Yes LaVon. As you are progressing through the module:
