State of next button when revisiting slide

Apr 11, 2017

Hello my wonderful Storyline experts :). I have a slide that I have initial set the state of the next button to hidden when the timeline starts as this slide branches to 3 scenarios. I have therefore set the state of the next button back to normal when the 3 scenarios have been completed. The learner then returns to the initial slide and can then progress to the next slide - this all works fine and I have the slide set to resume to saved state when revisiting.  However, as I have a trigger to change the state of the next button to hidden when the timeline starts, when the user revists the slide, there is no next button and therefore have to go through all of the scenarios again to move on even though they may only just need to revist for one small thing.

Is there another way around this so that the next button is normal when the learner revisits instead of it activiting the hidden trigger when the timeline starts please?

Thanks

Sarah

The PREV button on a number of slides goes to the last slide viewed but not the previous slide.

Hi LaVon

that is expected behaviour - if you need it to go to a specific slide when Previous is clicked you will need to name that slide in the Previous trigger.

I'll take a look at 1.13 now

Hi LaVon

1.9 works as expected for me.

If I get it wrong I go to 1.10 then click next and go to 1.11.  If I click previous on 1.11 I go back to the feedback on 1.10

If I get it correct I go to 1.11 then click previous and go back to 1.9.

See Peek video

You'd need to set a variable and add a trigger if they get it correct on second visit and click the previous button that it takes them back 1.9

Tell me, please. The PREV and NEXT buttons click to those exact slides unless you designate a different one. The menu is anywhere I want to go by clicking on a previously viewed slide.

Now, say I am on a slide and I want to review content on a previous slide farther back in the course. So, I use the menu to do that. I get to that slide and switch to clicking the Next button to navigate when I leave that slide. The next button will go to the next slide in the menu order not the last slide that I viewed. That is how it is supposed to work, RIGHT? QA is finding that as an error.

Yes LaVon.  As you are progressing through the module:

  • if you click a menu item previously viewed and then click NEXT on the slide you will go to the next slide in the menu.
  • If you click a menu item previously viewed and then click PREV on the slide you will return to the slide you left when you clicked the menu item.
