States keep changing

Hi,
I have a quiz where the state changes when you select. Out of the 5, one is highlighted in blue where the others are red. I tried simply copy/paste a red one, and it works until I make it a choice in the "form view" it turns blue. I looked at the formatting of the slides, they're exactly the same. I tried CTRL+D and CTRL+C, CTRL+V.
This course was begun before I got it and I am trying to make it clean/consistent.
I'm attaching a screenshot of the before I make it a choice in form view and after. I'm not sure what I'm missing! Please help!

Hi Heather,
When letting Storyline create its own Selected state it does so with a shadow. Annoying I know!
Edit state
Select the Selected state click on the button so its selected
go to Drawing Tools, Format (this will be highlighted blue and will be the last tab, if its not there then the shape is not selected.)
Then click on Shape Effect
then down to glow
then change it to no color
