states not working in html5
Mar 11, 2014
I have updated Storyline, but I'm still running into issues with html5 and states. My html output works fine in Firefox and Explorer, but the html5 output is not working properly in Mobile Safari on an iPad (iOS 7.0.6).
I have created a menu slide with six objects. The user must select each object chronologically. Once a user has selected the object, she or he is taken through a series of additional slides and then returns to the menu slide. Object 1 is set to "normal" and objects 2 thru 6 are set to "disabled" on the user's first visit. Upon her or his second visit, object 1 is set to "viewed," object 2 is set to "normal," and objects 3 thru 6 remain set to "disabled." The trigger for object 2 to change from "disabled" to "normal" is object 1's state having been changed to "viewed." In Mobile Safari, object 1 works fine. However, upon revisiting, object 1 is set to "viewed," but object 2 remains "disabled." Can anyone help?
Thanks!
Ben

Hi Ben and welcome to Heroes!
Would you be able to share your Storyline file here with us (or even a sample you've mocked up) so that we could take a look at it?
Ashley, the original file was video-heavy. I removed all the videos to keep the size manageable. Thanks for having a look!
Ben
Thanks Ben for parring it down.
I'll take a look and let you know what I find!
Hi Ben,
You'll see I've parred down your course a little bit more just to remove the first scene so that I focused on the menu slide that is causing difficulty. What I ended up doing was first changing the revisiting behavior from automatically decide to resume saved state, to allow for more control over what the behavior of the slide was. You can see how they'll behave based on the descriptions here.
Next, I also set up a different trigger to change the button (for the second rectangle) to change the state of it to normal when the timelines starts if rectangle one is visited. This worked in my test version here. You'll need to set up similar triggers on the rest of the objects, but you should be ok after that. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Ashley, I've just returned to see your response. Thank you so much. I'll have a look at what you've provided. I appreciate it!!!
Happy to help Ben and feel free to let us know if you need anything else.
