States Question

Hi All,
Hopefully the .story file will help explain my predicament.
On one shape i have used the built in normal and selected states - however the normal state still shows overlayed onto the selected state when previewing.
On the other shape I have created a custom state and set up triggers to toggle between them. This eliminates the problem of one state overlaying the other - however for some reason it only toggles states one way i.e always on and never off.
Does anyone know why this is happening and/or what I can do to resolve it.

The built in states are additive (they build on top of normal, whereas custom states are not
Ah ha! didn't realise that.
Any ideas why my custom one wouldn't be working as expected?
It is because both triggers are firing and at some point they get stuck, this is one case where I would use variables, here is how i would do it
Note i use a variable at the start of the slide so i always know what value it is when the slide loads

I wouldn't have thought that toggling between two states would be that complicated.
