Story View out of order using Menu buttons for branching
Oct 09, 2020
Hi all,
I have an issue with the Story View being out of order when using Menu buttons to branch to slides. See image StoryViewIssueExample1 where the slide 1.11 is between 1.8 and 1.10, instead of after 1.10. I have the Triggers in order on the Menu slide and the buttons in the correct order in the Timeline (from 1-8), see image StoryViewIssueExample2. I know it's aesthetics but I share my source files with other sites in our company who are new to Storyline and they could get confused so I want to fix it so it's not one more thing about Storyline that they have to learn :(

Hi there - I ran into similar yesterday and you're on the right track I think re: the timeline on your menu slide. Can you try reversing the order of your buttons on the timeline so they go from bottom up instead of top down? Bottom is actually the "first" thing on the slide so I think that's what triggers the story view. Just a guess though at this stage.
Thanks for the response, I tried that, and sadly it didn't work. I even saved, closed, and reopened the file and here's what it looks like now, see attached StoryViewIssueExample3.
Ugh. That's so frustrating. The only other thing I can think of is that it has something to do with linking off of groups. I've always had challenges with triggers attached to groups. That may just be me not knowing how to use them properly but because of my challenges, I try to only link single objects.
Hoping someone else is able to chime in here to help as well :)
That was it!!! Thank you!!!
I ungrouped the buttons/#/title and linked directly to the rectangles and the Story View jumped into order; woohoo!!! See image attached StoryViewRESOLVEDExample4.
WHOHOOOO! YAY! I'm so happy you got it fixed. There really isn't any better feeling than when that niggling little silly thing falls into place. All the best!
Agreed! :) Now I can move forward with the project, instead of twiddling my thumbs; lol. Thanks again!
