FIX: Storyline 2 adding Silence, or extending timeline when video is replaced.

Mar 02, 2016

I had a vexing issue where I replaced some video in an interaction, and when the slide was viewed, silence would start at the end of the video.

What I think happened was that when I removed the video, it kept the timeline intact, then simply added my new video to the timeline, effectively doubling it. This is insidious, because you'll see nothing but a text box and the video on the timeline. Removing the video, dragging the timeline end is a pain.

So here's a fix that I found works.

Right click on the timeline, select timing. Uncheck "Show until the end of slide", Press close. This will expose the free space at the end of your media. Fix the timeline by dragging the end marker. Then right click, timing, check "Show until the end...", turning it back on.

Notice that the timing tab shows the true time of the video, you can drag the timeline to that point, but it's not as accurate.
