Storyline 2 - buttons won't appear over video
Jun 17, 2015
Hi all -
I’m having an issue where something tested fine but now on the actual project I can’t get it to work.
I imported PowerPoint slides into Camtasia, added narration, published as an MP4 and inserted the video into a Storyline slide. I added shapes/buttons (over the video, on the same layer) with triggers that pause the video and jumps to a URL (to view another resource). I want the buttons to appear for a specified amount of time (the length of the narration for the “PP slide” referencing that resource) and then disappear. The video is 25 minutes long so I need to include the video controls. This worked fine when I tested it but now the buttons won’t show up when I preview or publish. (They do appear and disappear as desired when viewing in the timeline.)
There’s an additional issue with two of the buttons. They need to appear at 1500 seconds on the timeline but every time I enter that amount in the Timing box and click Close it reverts to 1000 seconds. I can physically drag them to 1500 but when you open the timing settings it still displays 1000.
Any ideas? Thx.

Good Morning, Freya.
Can you please share your .story project file with us for a closer look? Thanks!

I would love to but our server is not allowing even the zipped .story file to be attached due to size and it appears that Dropbox is off limits to state employee computers. Is there some other way? Thx.

Good Morning, Freya.
Please note that replying to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature. You are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.
Have you tried using this form to submit your .story project file to us? Thanks!
Hi Justin - I didn't even think about the signature being attached. Thx for that and the form link. I copied and pasted the original "question" into the form and attached the .story file. An error message flashed before it sent so I hope the file went. Thx for looking into this. - FEB
Thanks, Freya.
I see that we received your Case Number 00572068, but I'm not sure that we received your .story project file. It looks like Victor has taken ownership of the case, and he will follow up with next steps. I will follow along as well.
Have a great weekend!
