Storyline 2 compatability with Apple upgrade to iOS 9 for ipads

Nov 23, 2015

Hi all

Has anyone had problems with the latest apple upgrade, which means that videos/content are not 'playing' when the learner uses an ipad with iOS 9. I am about to review some training content using storyline 2 as this is an issue with another software program, and wondered when when I publish this to scorm if it will also be a problem?

Hi Carol,

You may find that videos in your Articulate Storyline 2 courses don't always play as expected in HTML5 output when viewed on Apple iOS 9 iPads and iPhones.

We added support for iOS 9 in Update 7 for Storyline 2 to address this issue. Install the latest version of Storyline 2 to take advantage of the new features and fixes, then republish your courses.

If you'd prefer to update existing courses without republishing, use the Articulate Updater to automatically scan and update your published files.

Hi Ashley. Thanks for the advise. I have now upgraded to 'update 7' - however I find that the program won't launch in ipad (not using articulate mobile app). I uploaded as SCORM to our LMS as did not give me Tin Can option. I did open the amplaunch html as suggested and changed this to 'target' as per the script. However I'm thinking that since we don't use AMP (tracking purposes) that won't help. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hi Carol,

If you're not publishing for the mobile player, you would want to deselect the "mobile player" option within your publishing set up and just use HTML5. If you're still using that option and making modifications to the amplaunch file that could contribute to the odd behavior - but I'm unable to assist with the modifications you're making to the published output. Please let us know if you're able to publish the course again by removing the "mobile player" option and uploading that to your LMS and then testing from your ipad. If you're still having difficulty we're also happy to take a look at the course if you can upload the .story file here using the "add attachment" button.
