Storyline 2 - disable the NEXT button on a slide until the user interacts with all the content
Feb 06, 2017
Sorry if this has been covered but if it has I cant find an answer to it.
Okay I have a screen which has text and voice over within this screen I want the learner to branch to 3 other screens and view the content before moving from the main screen. I have used 3 rectangles with text as the trigger buttons. the to and fro branching works fine.
I have visited states
A true / false variable set to false
I have set a trigger to adjust the values to true when visited
I have set the next button to - next slide when condition is (variable name) ==Equal to true.
I Also have disable next button and on timeline start.
Now when I preview the slide it works great - when I preview the course the next button remains disabled.
What am I doing wrong? how do I fix this as I'm starting to look daft :( Please help...

Hi Tony
Try change state of next button to normal when timeline starts on xx slide on condition variable xx is =true
Hi Wendy thanks for the quick replay. This is an odd issue I have been playing with it again and the the issue is the viability of the next button. If I Disable it wont reinable after the condition is met. The next slide trigger works fine until I add the disable next button trigger.
I've tried Disable next when timeline starts and adding change state of next button to normal when timeline starts on condition variable xx is =true (as you suggested)
I've also tried the simple (but perhaps confusing way) Disable when start and normal when ends.
I'm loosing the will to live here...
Hi Tony
happy to take a look if you want to share the story file.
things I would be checking
That would be great if you could have a look. I'll rebuild it the way I had it and you'll be able to see whats happening I'm on a call I'll have it to you in 30 mins or so. Thanks so much Wendy :)
Sure Tony when you're ready
Hi Wendy - I've attached the file. I have set it as I had it originally in the hope you can tell me where I've gone wrong. I'm making another course that will repeatedly use this function so if you see a solution I'd be very grateful if you could provide me with how it was achieved so I can emulate in the other course.
Many thanks for your help again
Tony
Hi Wendy I keep having issues uploading this course :( I'll try again now.
Thanks
Tony
Hi Tony
I'm having issues downloading the file.
Can you create a new project file and just import in the main slide with the three branch slides and the slide following the main slide.
Here is a rough sample of what I think you are trying to do
