Storyline 2 - Drag and Drop HTML5 - Cannot drop grouped objects

Aug 21, 2015

I have a drag and drop interaction with 7 Drag Items and 3 Drop Targets.

Each drag item is a group made up of a rectangle with a background image, and a text box layered on top that has a fill with transparency applied.

The interaction works as expected when viewed as Flash.

When viewed as HTML5 these grouped drag items do not snap to the drop targets and the interaction is not marked as correct when they are dragged to the correct drop targets and the interaction is submitted.

If I ungroup the drag items and instead select only the text box instead of the group as the drag item the interaction works as expected when viewed as HTML5.

I can obviously get around this issue by switching from using a grouped object for my drag items however this is a bug that should be fixed so thought it worth highlighting.

Hi Ryan,

There are some difficulties with drag and drops and grouped items, so we typically advice against it. Are you able to include them as one shape with the text as a part of the shape or as an image?

If you'd like us to take a look and offer any thoughts can you share that sample .story file here with us? Also, I did want to check that you're viewing the HTML5 output in one of the supported browsers detailed here.
