Storyline 2 files displaying as HTML5, not intended to

Jan 22, 2019

Hi.

I have recently developed some modules on Storyline 2. They are published as flash and uploaded to our client's LMS. However, for a few users, the modules play as HTML5 and the user gets stuck at certain screens that won't progress. For the majority of users there is no issue as the modules play in flash. I presume the issue is with the users browser or some other settings on their computer which is playing the html5 file.

Does anyone know what the settings may be that are making them bypass the flash file?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Bryan

Hi Bryan,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing in your course.

Check out this documentation to understand how your published content will display.

The points related to what you've mentioned above:

  • Learners will see the Flash version of your course if their browser supports it.
  • If learners are using a browser without Flash and you marked the HTML5 option, they'll see the HTML5 output.

The Flash output is supported in the following browsers when Flash (10.3 or later) is enabled.

  • Windows: Internet Explorer 8 and later, Google Chrome (latest version), Firefox (latest version)
  • Mac: Safari 7 and later, Google Chrome (latest version)

So, in short, I'd check to see if Flash is enabled in the browser.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
