Storyline 2 generate swf files with spaces

Jul 15, 2015

Hi,

Recently we encountered an issue with one of our project. Besically our LMS platform do not like files with "spaces" and in our SCORM export of the project there are some files with those.

I've investigated that those files are reffering to a "drag and drop" activity when you get a feedback if your response is correct or not (states on drag objects "correct drop", "incorrect drop").

example of the file name: txt__default_Drop Correct_5aQT8bYRoZ4.swf

Because of this, when user submits an interaction, system just freaks out and the whole e-learning freezes. It doesnt happen offline, it only happenes once uploaded to LMS.

However the same thing happenes, when I re-name the files f.e. I tried replacing space with "%20" in the CD export. That makes me think our LMS just doesn't find those files because of the spaces.

Is there any way to fix this or avoid creating spaces in the file names?

Hi Pawel,

I'm not sure that there is any way to stop Storyline from including the underscores (or spaces as you saw) from the file names, as some of it is reporting parts of their answer or an id of where the user is in the course. You mentioned making changes in the CD export - was that just for testing, or is that the version you're trying to load up to your LMS? You'll want to ensure that you're publishing for LMS as described here and you could look at testing the course at SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for testing LMS content.
