Storyline 2 - Notes appearing in a different font & visited state not working when course is published
Jun 14, 2017
Hi,
I hope someone can assist with a couple of issues I'm experiencing in Storyline 2.
1. When published, the font seen in the notes section of the course is different to that seen when previewing the course (see attachments below - screenshot 1 is the preview and screenshot 2 is the published version)
2. I've set up a visited state on some shapes which display different layers on a slide, the shape changes colour once the layer has been visited. When I preview the slide it works perfectly. When i publish it, the layer is displayed but the state of the shape (and therefore it's colour) doesn't change
I'm publishing onto SCORM Cloud and our own LMS (Docebo) with the same results.
I've never had this problem before and I'm stumped. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Storyline, clearing my cache, renaming the file.....
Any help would be much appreciated as I'm losing the will to live.....

Hi there Fabio! Sorry you're running into these issues--let's tackle them one at a time.
Hi Alyssa
Thanks for coming back to me. It does seem as if both issues are HTML5 related as I republished the course with the HTML5 option unticked and it works as expected, the font is displayed correctly and the shape states work as designed.
I've attached a copy of the file below, slide 7.3 is the one with the shapes and layers on it.
Any idea when the HTML5 issue is to be resolved?
Fabio
Hey, Fabio! It looks like you attached the published zip file here. Would you mind also attaching the original .story file so I can take a peek inside?
sorry! here you go
Hi there Fabio,
I took a peek into your file, and I saw both of the issues you brought up here. The formatting difference in the notes text between Flash and HTML5 is something we're tackling, and I'll update you as soon as I get more information.
The second issue you mentioned is a real puzzle, and I'm surprised I haven't seen it pop up before. I was able to recreate it in a new file, as well. It looks like the Visited state doesn't appear when the shape is used to show a layer.
From here, I’ll meet with my team to take a closer look, so that we can verify this is a bug. Sometimes my team catches errors in my logic and we don’t have a bug after all. Of course if that’s the case, I’ll let you know!
Thanks again for bringing this up, and I'm sorry for all of the headaches it has caused!
Hi again Fabio,
I did a bit more digging, and I found that you can replace the rounded rectangles with buttons, and the state change works perfectly in HTML5. I swapped out the "Awareness" rectangle with a button in this published file so you can have a look.
Hi Alyssa,
I am having the same issue, above. The text in notes shows up in one format, and no matter how I format it - when previewed or published, the formatting (any spaces between paragraphs) is lost. I know you have been working on this since last year. Any solution? I have Storyline 2.

Hi Steve! I see my colleague Katie recently replied to your discussion here, so I wanted to share a link for anyone else following along!
So, there is a bug in the software, it seems. Due to previous inquiries, it
seems that Articulate was notified about two years ago about it. Is
anything being done about it? If I can't edit notes, it's a big issue with
development
Hi Steve,
This bug affects the HTML5 output of Storyline 2, but the notes formatting should look correct in Flash. It sounds like this is a really important feature for you. Since Flash is the most widely supported output for Storyline 2, I recommend making sure Flash Player is enabled to avoid this issue. Is that a possibility for your learners?
