Storyline 2 - Scene order incorrect on publish

Oct 19, 2018

Please help:

My scenes are in proper sequence 1.1 - 1.75 and all of my next buttons simply jump to next slide. All of the slides are in proper order on the scene bar on the left.

When I publish, or preview the project, the order of the slides have now changed on the slide menu on the left ie: 1.09 - 1.10 - 1.13. - 1.14 - 1.11 - 1.12.

It will still sequence properly, but scene selection on the left is not in the correct order. The scenes basically jump back and forth.

This is really only a visual issue for me from a production perspective, however; if I publish to Word - it uses the incorrect publish order instead of the correct scene order.

(This is confusing to articulate).

I have attached 2 files. In Scene 1, you will see that slide Microphone is after slide Hardware.

In Scene 2 (published), you will see that it finishes Hardware, then jumps to Microphone then Software then goes up two slides to finish off Activation and Deactivation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nate

Hey there, Nate.  Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, and thanks for all of the helpful details!

I see when you're in Story View that the slides are in proper order, and it sounds like when you click Next, the slides progress in the right sequence.  That's good news, to start!

If the Player Menu is slightly out of whack, it should be an easy fix.  Open your Player Properties, and click on the Menu feature:

You can highlight slides in the menu and use the arrows to move them up and down in sequence:

Doing this will not change the sequence in which the slides advance.  It will only impact the way the slides are listed in the Player Menu.  Here's more on working with the Player Menu.

Let me know if that helps!  If not, feel free to attach your .story file here for me to have a closer look.
