Storyline 2 seekbar syncing off during preview and publish

Mar 14, 2016

Hi,

I'm using Storyline2. When I publish or preview my screencast recording/video, if I play it all the way through without clicking in the seekbar the timing of the zooms are perfect. But as soon as I click in the seekbar to go back and view something, the zooms come in too early.  I'm playing off my laptop on a CD publish.  Any solutions? thanks.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for reaching out here. I'd want to take a look at your set up to be sure, but our team is aware of an issue with videos and the seekbar when you add additional elements to the timeline such as audio or zoom items in that if the user clicks on the seekbar elements can become out of sync. The current recommendation is to disable the seekbar or enable it for read only mode in Storyline 2.

If you'd like to share the .story file here (even just that one slide) I'm happy to take a look and can connect it to the known issue if it's the same. I'm not able to provide any other information at this time, but it has been escalated to our QA team for further investigation.

Hi,
Whether I preview the project or play the published version, clicking within the seek bar during a Storyline2 video that was inserted as a video single slide will "off sync" the timing of the zooms. Only when a User plays and pauses will it keep the synced zoom, but as soon as one clicks inside the seekbar and then continues playing sync is off.

Thanks. Unfortunately it's content that I can't share at this point. However, it does sound like it's on par with the issue your team is aware of already.  I actually have stand-up presenters that are using this project as a demo to show an audience a product and may have to pause and play (which works fine), But if they decide to click in the seek bar, then it goes out of sync with zooming.  I will have to tell them just to stay away from the seek bar if possible.

I hope they fix this issue soon. (maybe they can place the navigation directly on the video instead of the Player....that may alleviate the sync problem? it appears the Player navigation is not in sync with video perhaps?

Hi Michael,

If you're able to share it with our Support Engineers you're welcome to send along here.

It does sound like it matches the issue, so I'll connect this thread to the report. As for the video and seekbar, if you enable the video controls that would disassociate the video timeline with the slide timeline, so if they were to seek in either you'd still have the odd issues/behavior. In the meantime, as you mentioned I'd recommend telling them to use the play/pause button only or replay the slide as a whole.

Hi Alysaa,

I am facing this issue both in Preview mode and after publishing. When i try to move fwd using seekbar and i go beyond the point where the screen was zoomed (and zoomed back) , my screen remains zoomed throughout the end. And hence everything becomes out of sync. will be sharing my storyline file after removing confidential content.
