Since version 1 of Storyline 2, there seems to be a persistent issue with shadow perspective options not functioning properly i.e size, blur, angle, distance. It seems like a minor issue however because of the amount of characters we use, it results in us having to build our images in other software programs and import them just to get this right. After 4 updates I would have anticipated that Articulate would have picked this up and resolved this. Please fix in the next version.
Articulate Storyline 2 Update 5 is now available for download. It includes WCAG 2.0 support, several new accessibility features, better HTML5 performance, and bug fixes. Click here for details:
Could you tell us more about how you're adding in the shadows and seeing them move? You can change the shadow's distance and angle using the "format picture" but just adding in a character and applying a shadow to it, keeps the correct perspective for me. A .story file and/or a screen recording of the steps you go through would be good for us to try and replicate.
HI Matt -- Can you do me a favor and please ensure that you are working locally, as noted on this document, Unexpected or Erratic Behavior in Articulate Storyline 2? Please also be sure that you are utilizing the most recent update, available for download here.
And if issues persist, we'd be happy to review your file if you would like to upload it here in the thread.
Thanks for your response Matt, and for the screencast to illustrate the behavior you are experiencing. I am also working on a Mac (v. 10.10.5), and I have Windows 10 installed on one of my virtual machines (I used VMWare instead of Parallels), so I will try to reproduce the issue you are having in a test file on my end.
We appreciate you making us aware of what you encountered, and I will share my findings here shortly. :)
Hi, Matt -- Ok, so we did some testing (Ashley in Windows 8 on PC, and I checked it out in Windows 10 on Mac with VMWare), and we both saw the same results you did, so we will be reporting this bug to our QA team for further review.
Unfortunately, I do not have a workaround to offer at the moment, or a timeframe in which this may be addressed, but I will be certain to share any updates I receive here in the thread. Many thanks again, and good catch! :)
Thanks for reaching out here. This is an issue with our QA team still and it does seem within the issues reported it was only within slide and state preview that it appeared, previewing the entire project of the published output it behaved normally.
I did want to let you know that the latest update of Storyline 2 is update 11 available to you here. We always recommend being on the latest update as well.
Thanks for the reply Ashley. My shadow is still the same in previewing entire project and published output. I will get on the the IT department to upgrade to 11 and see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for the update David - if you are seeing something different than what Ashley shared above once you update, please feel free to share your .story file so that we can take a look. If you cannot share it here in the forums, please feel free to share here privately.
