Storyline 2: Show image until...
Nov 03, 2016
We are moving from Articulate Studio 13 over to Storyline 2. I am trying to build an interactive slide that has buttons, each of which triggers a layer to be shown. I want an image to be on the slide when it first loads. When the user clicks a button, a new layer is shown, and the first image is supposed to be hidden.
If I put the image on the base layer, it shows when the slide loads. When the user click a button to load a new layer, the image stays in the background.
If I put the image on a layer of its own, it does not load when the slide loads. I tried to trigger the layer to show when the timeline starts, but it doesn't show at all.
I just need the image to be there when the slide loads, and disappear when the user clicks any of the buttons. It doesn't ever have to be shown, other than when the slide first loads.
Any suggestions?

Hi Michael
if you can upload your .story file easier for someone to help you if they can work with your setup.
Thanks for your quick response.
Due to security concerns with disclosure of too much product information, I can't give you the entire project, but I have singled out the slide I am working with. The Intro Layer is the layer I'm trying to show when the slide first loads. The others are all triggered by buttons.
Try this.
Re-reading your post, perhaps your idea was best.
On the plus side, whatever you did has it working exactly how I wanted it to work. The only difference I'm seeing is that you added the image for only 1 second on the base layer. Is that correct? Or is there something I am missing?
I paused the base timeline just before the image disappears, so it is there until the user clicks.
But showing the intro layer when the slide starts works just as well, and maybe with less work.
Yeah, I just figured it out by going over yours and recreating it. For some reason I was missing the "show layer" as a trigger option from the base layer. Maybe I didn't have the image selected when I first tried it.
Either way, it works perfectly now. I really appreciate your help.
