I noticed that when I drag a placeholder on the timeline of the slide master so that it starts after say 2 seconds, it won't translate to the slide in the slide view. It just places the placeholder at 0 seconds. Any advice on this?
Thanks for checking in. I'm sorry that you ran into this issue. We’ll continue to keep an eye on it to evaluate how many customers are impacted and what impact it has on courses. The number of customers and depth of impact are two of the elements that help us prioritize bugs and fixes.
This discussion is quite a bit older, so I'd want to confirm you're seeing the same thing or figure out if you've run into a new issue.
Can you let me know if you're using Storyline 2, Update 13 or another version of Storyline?
Also, the issue that was reported was that any timing elements added to slide master placeholders were not respected on the individual slides itself? Is that what you're seeing? Are you able to set the timing on the individual slide itself?
I am currently using Storyline 2 Update 11.
I see the same issue reported : I format some elements to be animated in my Slide Master but when I go back to the individual slides where I applied my layout the items (in particular the placeholder text) are back to the beginning of the timeline as if all my formatting wasn't taken for account.
Thanks for confirming those details. We are seeing an issue where the timing of slide master placeholders and objects doesn't match the timing on individual slides. I'm sorry for the headaches this is causing! I'll be sure to add your experience to our report.
I'm running SL2, release 13. The problem that I am currently having is that the overall slide master timing is not respected by he new slide when creating the course. Example: I need each quiz question slide's timeline to be 2 minutes. I'm hiding the submit button when the timeline begins and then changing it's state to normal when the timeline ends. I'm creating a government regulated course that requires this feature. I changed the quiz slide master so the timing there was 120 seconds but each quiz question slide defaults to 5 seconds. This requires me to change each slides timeline to 120 seconds.
Is this related to the same bug? Is there a fix for this?
I'm currently using Storyline 3 (360). The bug that I get is the following: When there's a timing for an object (placeholder or other, I think) that is different to 0 seconds in my Master Slide AND there is an animation (like float or fade), the object will appear in the regular slides, but the timing won't be kept. It will show at 0 seconds. So far the only solution I've found is to make the animations very long (3.5 seconds) but the visual effect is not quite the same. I've checked many posts in the discussions and it seems to be a recurring bug (already 5 years ago!!!)
Also, some placeholders don't show up at all when I apply the layout. At least not until I create a new slide with the layout.
That's all I've got to share.
Hope it helps finding the problem.

Thank you for the explanation, Melissa. I've added this conversation to the report that we have for SL360 and SL3. I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur.
I can confirm that this is still an issue in Storyline 360. Adjusting the timing of placeholders in the timeline doesn't translate over when a slide is created. Objects that aren't placeholders still keep their correct timing, however.

Hi Lars!
This is an issue that has been reported to our QA Team. I will add this thread for both user awareness and update when applicable.
Hi Leslie. Any update on this? It's an issue I'm facing at the moment with a project in SL2. Thanks in advance.

Here's some more detail about how we tackle bugs. I'm really sorry that I can't say if this issue will be fixed, but you're in the right place to stay updated on this bug's progress.
Hello I'm having the same issue. Is there a way to resolve this ?

Hi Don,
Yes, I'm seeing the same behavior you mention and it has been shared with our team as well.
I do not have an update but did want to share a quick tip that may help on how you can easily adjust the duration of your slide.
Hello,
Have you been able to find a solution for this issue ?
Thanks.
So sorry you hit a snag, Melissa!
We'll get you the most up-to-date guidance from there!
