Storyline 2/Storyline 3 Glitch

Feb 03, 2020

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing issues with glitching or the transitioning between layers on files in Storyline 3 that were created in and working fine in Storyline 2? If so, is there a way to fix it?

I double checked to make sure the images didn't have an entrance or exit animation. I also checked each layer to make sure it didn't have a transition effect. So not sure why it's glitching in Storyline 3 but not it Storyline 2.

Thanks,
Hannah

Hi, Hannah. I'd love to help investigate the glitch!

First, a few basic questions that I don't want to overlook:

  • What Storyline 3 update are you using? To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline
  • Is this happening during preview, in the published output, or both?
  • Do you see the flickering transitions on all slides with layers or certain ones?

Hi Katie,

I have 9:3.9.21069.0 update. It is happening in preview and also in the exported version. I only see them on certain slides with layers. Not all of them.

Also I had IT install Storyline 2 on my computer so I could export this course to put on our LMS. Everything was good. I hit save. Then exported. When I went to view/test it on our LMS, images were moved, text was not the right font or size. So I went back and opened up the Storyline file and it was all messed up in that file. Even though I had saved it. Any idea on why that happened?

Hi, Hannah. I appreciate the extra clues, and I'm sorry you hit another snag!

Would you mind sharing the .story file with me? I'd like to take a closer look under the hood and let you know if I spot anything wonky happening.

Can I also confirm that you're working on a local C: drive? Working on a shared drive can cause oddities like misplaced elements to happen, so I always make sure to rule that out!

We'll get to the bottom of the flickering and misplacement together!
