Storyline 2 - Theme colors - Text/Background

Mar 01, 2017

Hello everybody.

My problem is about Theme colors.

I spent many hours to try to understand how works the following features:

- Text/Background - Dark 1

- Text/Background - Light 1

- Text/Background - Dark 2

- Text/Background - Light 2

I tried many colors and many changes, but nothing to do, that is still so weird to understand.

I get strange results.

I searched on the net, but I didn't find anything really useful.

I understand well the following phrase:

"The Text/Background items are designed to help make text easily readable when applied to shapes. For example, text that you format with the darker shades is designed to be readable when placed within lighter-colored shapes."

But it would take an example to properly understand.

Can somebody explain me how that work ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi, I've also been struggling to understand this feature. It's of secondary importance, but the lack of clarity - or my lack of ability to get a grip on it - really bugs me!

A few things make it confusing: the labeling as shown above,  'Text/Background' - Light 1 and 2, and Dark 1 and 2, is far from clear. It seems that Text Dark 1 and Background Light 2 are a pair, and Text Light 1 and Background Dark 2. If so, they are neither named similarly nor listed logically.

Apart from that, it's not clear how these features are intended to be applied. They don't seem to be connected as a default to anything.  If the feature really is helpful in certain situations, it would be valuable to understand what that could be .....

Cheers, Daniel

Hi there, Daniel.  I'm sorry those labels are a little perplexing.  This tutorial attempts to clarify how each of those formatting options apply at number 3:

Thanks for sharing your experience, and I'll bring your feedback to the team.  Let me know if there are any specific color formatting choices you need a hand with.
