STORYLINE 2 - TRIGGER TO CHANGE AUDIO ON SEEKBAR??

Apr 29, 2017

I have a slide that has a question and 2 possible answers. Then audio feedback plays depending on which answer is chosen. The seekbar is visible, and when they click the play button again I want it to play the QUESTION Audio instead of repeating the answer feedback. Is there any simple way I can choose a different audio to click when the user tries to REPLAY using the play button on the seekbar?

Thank you!

No, I have a layer for each answer. So base layer with the question and then
2 layers for the feedback of each question. Basically I want to create a
trigger that will "Play Audio" - "Question Audio" - when user clicks -
Replay button (but there is no way to change what happens with that replay
button, right?)

Hi Jen

you're right you can't use the seekbar 'replay' button in a trigger, and without seeing your file I don't know what your setup is but maybe you could try something like this. Question Audio not on the base layer but a layer of it's own that is triggered to play on timeline start so each time the 'replay' button is clicked the timeline restarts and plays the audio.  You may need to add variables for when the user reviews the slide if you don't want it to play at that point.

I did think of that and it's a good idea but I didn't want the question to
play and overwrite the feedback that was supposed to play. If the question
audio is set to play when the timeline starts, then how would I set trigger
two jump to that new layer when the user clicks that play button on the
seekbar?

I have the base layer set to play the question audio, then layer A plays
feedback for Answer A, layer B plays feedback for Answer B. The user can
click A and then after it plays the feedback, they can click B to see what
that feedback is as well. The client wants only the question to replay when
the play button is clicked (after the feedback ends)

Hi Jen

you could create a True/False variable for both buttons A and B.

Add a trigger to adjust variable 'A'  to True when user clicks button A. Same trigger for button B.

Add a trigger to play Question audio when user clicks button A on condition that variable 'A' = true.

Watch the trigger order...but this doesn't affect the seekbar so  not sure if it is giving your client what they want.

Hi Jen

it's hard to say without seeing your file - you may need to use a custom replay button if the seekbar won't work for you.  Here is a MC quiz slide with 3 attempts.  Each time you click the replay button it plays the Question audio but I don't know if this is how your file is setup or if it will work for your situation.

I think I understand now about the buttons since seekbar doesn't work. In the file you sent, if you click the Play arrow, nothing happens. That is what I am trying to figure out. If you wanted to allow user to replay the audio, they would click the play arrow and nothing would happen.

I am thinking the only way to get something to happen with replaying audio is like you explained, the user must do something in order for the audio to start again

Thank you so much for your help!
