Storyline 3: Issue with Caption sizing
Feb 05, 2019
Hi all,
I have added captions to my videos by importing an .srt file however whenever i'm previewing in desktop view (including after export) the captions are appearing unreasonably small and barely readable where as they are fine in both the tablet and mobile phone view.
I have tried updating storyline 3 and re-importing the captions which hasn't worked, and I have also tried increasing the font size but to get it anywhere near comprehensible (200% for desktop view) it becomes to large to even see the video in mobile view.
Is anyone aware of a fix.
I have attached screenshots as an example.

Hi Chris,
What's the overall story size of your course? It looks like it may be quite a bit larger, which is why the captions are displaying in a smaller section of the slide on desktop view, and in mobile/tablet we'll default to the responsive player which will scale the slide size to fit the device.
Could you look at using a smaller slide size overall? That would likely help with the display of content across devices too, so that it'll be easier for learners to see and read details on the slide.
Hi Ashely,
the overall story size of my course is only 1080 which is considered relatively small in in regards to video. I feel if making the slides any smaller it will effect the quality of the overall course due to the videos being stretched out on larger monitors.
Hi Matthew,
Your JavaScript is great for increasing the size of the captions, however you are correct in the fact that I do only need it to effect the desktop view as both the tablet view and mobile views are currently the perfect size.
Is there a tweak you can do to make it so the code only effect the captions in desktop view?
Cheers
Thanks Matthew! works like a charm
