storyline 3 jump to next slide bug

hi, i need help with articulate storyline 3.

i have problem with jump to next slide/scene trigger in storyline 3. let's say i have 1st slide contain only text and the 2nd slide contain video. when user finished reading the 1st slide and want to progress to 2nd slide, it's always freeze showing the grey loading circle, jumping from video slide to text is fine, i tried removing the video, it progress fine. the problem only occur when jumping from text to video slide. and it's stuck at random slides. for example: let's say i have 10 set of text then video slide. in the 1st publish, i stuck when trying to jump from 3rd to 4th slide. i tried to republish the same project without changing anything, now i can progress 3rd to 4th just fine, but now i get stuck at 7th to 8th slide. there's one time where everything work properly in the published file, but when i upload it to my LMS, the freezing appear again. i suspect the problem is in the storyline 3 because when i create the same slide with the same trigger and content in storyline 2, it worked just fine.

fyi, the 1st slide only contain 1 trigger. jump to next slide when user click rectangle 1. the video in 2nd slide used mp4 format, i tried to use shorter video, but it still freezing, no matter what video i use, it still freeze. and the reason i'm not using storyline 2 to publish my course because when using mobile, the scrollbar didn't show up properly in my LMS. storyline 3 fix the scroll bar problem but now i can't go to next slide properly. and i'm using latest chrome and IE 11 for viewing the content.

edit:

oh for extra info, if i use trigger jump to next slide when timeline start, it just stuck at that slide. no loading circle, just the seekbar moving until the end of the timeline and then just stay like that.

if i progress to the video slide manually using the side menu, then back to the text slide, it can progress normally. so it's like i need to access the video slide once before jump to next slide trigger is working.

Hi Frans,

To make playback as smooth as possible, your published Storyline courses will preload content in the following order:

Assets are loaded for the first slide (or the current slide when resuming), so the course can begin playing right away.
Assets are then loaded for the next three slides to prevent playback delays.
Assets are then loaded for the remainder of the course.

HTML5 content doesn't preload videos. However, Storyline progressively streams videos so learners won't have to wait for each video to fully download before it begins to play.

You mentioned that in a few attempts it froze at a different point. Is the freezing happening when viewing the published output locally or once you've uploaded to your LMS? Could you share a copy of the file or the link with me?

I'd be happy to test how it behaves on my end in a few different browsers and hosting options!

tried it already in 4 different computer, it still freeze. just at different slide. what weird is, if there's problem with the video, why some pc can load it, but others can't.

it freeze in preview, published file and LMS. and it's always random. so even if the preview fine, the published file can have freeze slide. and there's case where the preview is freezing, but it's play normally when published. i tried using 5 sec video, still freeze. so i guess the video size/duration is not the problem.

for the copy of my file, i tried making new project with just blank slide with 1 rectangle to act as next button. it's still freeze, even with only 2 slide. also already tried to reinstall the storyline, still not working. so i guess giving the copy file won't be helpful because the problem is likely in my storyline.

Hi Frans,

Can you double check that your computer meets the minimum requirements here for Storyline 3? Also, are you working on local project files vs. the files being on a network/shared drive?

Working off a network/shared drive is known to cause problematic behavior with the files while editing and in the published output.

You mentioned doing the reinstall - did you also go through the steps here to fully repair Storyline?

1. yes, my computer meets the minimum requirement. I also work on my local hard drive.

2. yes, i did follow the steps and check .net framework box.

btw, this is the error behavior from the story file i sent you.

in my computer, the freezing happen when i want to jump from 1st slide to 2nd slide. jumping from 3rd to 4th slide doesn't have problem, even though they use exactly same trigger.

also, if you manually open 2nd slide using the side menu, 1st slide trigger now can work properly. it's like you need to access the 2nd slide at least once, before the trigger work.
