Storyline 3-Matching Drag and Drop Quiz

Oct 27, 2020

I have created 2 character states. One state is a character expression for the correct answer and the other expression is for the incorrect answer. Regardless of which answer is selected, the normal state still displays behind the other two states when the user selects either answer. How can I hide the normal state when I want the correct and incorrect states to appear?

Hi again, Diane.

Thanks for clarifying how you're changing the characters. However, I couldn't re-create the problem you're having.

In the attached, I have 3 characters with custom states created in different ways. I also have buttons to change the states.

For all of them, the custom states show only the altered pose/picture; the Normal state does not appear in the background.

In other words, I don't know what's causing your problem. I suggest you start from scratch inserting the character and adding your custom states. Also, don't add a Hover state. That will interfere if the mouse happens to be over the character when the state changes.

If all that still doesn't work, you could contact support (https://articulate.com/support/contact). And, in the meantime, if you've got a plain background, you could put a filled shape behind the character in each custom state. That would cover the Normal character.
