Storyline 3 Publishing to LMS Completed/Incomplete setting still reporting as Pass/Fail

Feb 22, 2018

I ran into an issue with Storyline 3 that my published output for SCORM 1.2 is showing as Pass/Fail even though it has been set correctly as Completed/Incomplete.

I found a thread here that suggested making a change to a .js file, and we are testing that to see if it fixes the issue for us in this situation, but need to understand what is happening to cause this error in the first place. Also, there seemed to be a resolution through an update - but on further reading I see that was for Storyline 2, and not Storyline 3.

Our course includes quizzes, but completion is based on slides viewed.  I don't know if this is part of the cause? The LMS we use is PeopleSoft if that plays into it.  For the record, we didn't have this issue with our Storyline 2 publishing, so a little concerned that it might be Storyline 3??

Anyway - is anyone else running into this issue?

Thanks!

Sorry you're running into that problem, Brent!

By chance, are you tracking by "Number of Slides Viewed" with a report status of Completed/Incomplete?

If so, that could be the culprit. We're seeing a problem in Storyline 3 where "Complete/Incomplete" courses are sending Success status to a LMS. This happens when you're using the "Track Number of Slides Viewed" setting.

If that matches what you are experiencing, I'll add this thread to our bug report. We're targeting to release a fix for this bug in the next update of Storyline 3, which is coming soon. We'll let you know as soon as it is released!

Hi again, Brent! I'm excited to let you know that we just released update 3 for Storyline 3! It includes new features and fixes - check them all out here.

One of the fixes addresses an issue where HTML5 courses tracked by the number of slides viewed with a Completed reporting status would incorrectly send a Passed status to the LMS.

Here’s where you can download and install the latest version of Storyline 3. Let me know how you make out!
