Storyline 3 SCORM cannot previewed in IE

Mar 13, 2018

Recently, I tried uploading SCORM file which was built in Storyline 3 with Publish setting of  LMS SCORM 1.2 and Format: HTML5 Only.

When previewed in IE11, the page displayed blank.

However, when I tried to upload the same file which was built in Storyline 2 instead with Publish setting of LMS SCORM 1.2 and HTML5 output.

When previewed in IE 11 the page displayed correctly, so far I'm certain this only occur in IE since we have no issue previewing the file using Google Chrome.

So far, has anyone else encountered the same issue?

Oh no, Nur! I'm happy to help, and I have a couple questions to start:

  • Are you running the latest update for Storyline 3, build 3.3.15007? You can check by going to Help > About Storyline
  • From my understanding, Storyline 2 publishes Flash first. I'm curious if you see a difference after publishing your course in the Flash/HTML5 fallback in Storyline 3?
  • Can you share your .story project file here, so I can do some testing? You can add it as an attachment to a comment below.  You can also share it privately here.

I'll be standing by!

Hi Katie,

We are currently using Storyline 3 on 3.2.13213.0 version, have plans to update to the latest version however due to time constrain, we stick to this version at the moment.

Based on your advice, we’ve tried published the SCORM with the setting of Flash/HTML fallback which can be previewed and run smoothly in IE 11. We are wondering why the HTML/Flash fallback does not work?

Thanks

Hi Nur,

I'm not sure without seeing the file what may not be displaying as expected. I'm glad to hear that swapping your publish settings to match your SL2 content works as expected.

You mention that you're previewing the content. I'd advise to test the published content in the final uploaded environment to fully understand how the content will behave as viewing locally can cause some features to fail.
