Storyline 360 Hidden Base Layer

Jun 04, 2018

I have a slide with a base layer and three other slide layers. On all three additional layers, I have unchecked every single box, which includes "Hide other slide layers" and "Hide objects on base layer", but whenever I go to any of the three slide layers, everything on the base layer disappears. Does anyone know why this might be happening? It never did before.

Any help is very appreciated.

Hi there, Dean.  That's definitely the first thing I would have checked, too!  Can you have a look at the timeline?  Let me know if any of the base layer items are hidden there, too:

Also, if you're using slide masters and layouts, it's worth having a look at those layouts' layers and properties as well.

If nothing turns up, feel free to drop you .story file in here for me to have a close look!

Aloha Crystal,

Thank you for your reply and suggestions. I did recheck all the things you
had suggested and I'm still coming up with a blank. I've attached the
project I'm working on for you to view. I appreciate any help you can give.

Hi there Dean! Thanks so much for getting your file over to us. You're definitely in the right place! You're also welcome to share your file with our Support Team by opening a case here.

Our team views each and every post in this forum, from oldest to newest. That also means if other users chime in, or if you’ve updated your post, there may be a delay in us seeing it. I'm sorry you've been waiting so long!

Now, let's dig into your file. Can you tell me more about what the learner should see when the Players Hand and Aliens Cards layers are open? Should the players cards remain in the fraction drag and drop area?

Hi Dean.  Thanks for including your file.  I noticed when I reached the layers that a different variable was being referenced in "my card" section.  I discovered that a different slide master layout was being used for those layers than what was used for the base layer.  I'm not sure how that happened!

I added a custom, blank feedback layout to the slide master group that you were using, and I changed the layout for each of your layers.  That seemed to keep the base layer items visible when visiting the layers.  Check out my output of your course here.

I'm not sure if the JavaScript is functioning the way it should, so you may want to have another look at the action.  Hopefully this gets you closer to where you need to be, though.

Let me know what you think!  Your modified file is attached.
