I noticed that when I open a Storyline 1 file in Storyline 2 it saves an SL1 backup. Will the same thing happen when someone opens an SL2 file in SL3/360?
Absolutely! We'll always make a back up when you go to upgrade and you'll see that it appends the wording SL# Backup to the .story file name. That way you always have the original to go back to an earlier version.

Unfortunately projects created in Storyline 360 or Storyline 3 aren't compatible with earlier, older versions.
If you had created it in Storyline 2, you could have upgraded it to Storyline 3/360 - but not the other way around.
