Storyline and Engage Timing

Feb 21, 2013

Hi,

I am having trouble with an Engage interaction in storyline.  I have the trigger set to jump to the next slide when the user clicks the next button.  What's happening is that the slide is advancing at the 3 second mark on the timeline.  If i delete the trigger, it does not advance, but the continue button on the engage slide does not function either.

Any thoughts on this?

I can extend the timeline out to like 10 minutes as a work around---Any other ideas on why this is happening?

Hi Derek,

I hope I'm understanding this correctly. It sounds like the timeline isn't picking up on the time allotted for the Engage interaction, is that right? I think this is because the Engage interactions are inserted as web objects. So, the time that's assigned to the Engage interaction isn't seen by Storyline as "taking up time on the timeline". So, if you have the slide set to advance when the timeline ends, it's going to end when the time for the slide ends, not the interaction. The best approach is the one you're using, just add the time for the interaction to the slide itself by extending it.

If this isn't what's happening, can you give me a little more information, please?
