Storyline and Studio 13 standard combo

Jul 30, 2014

I am looking to make a pretty large purchase of licensing and would like to get a few opinions. If my Instructional Designers have both Story Line and Studio 13 Standard (no Engage) how much functionality are they losing by not including the Engage portion?

Also, we have a 3rd party client that will be creating a course using Engage to add some interactions to a course...Do I have to have Engage to edit this course later down the road or can I edit it using Storyline?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Hi Steve and welcome to Heroes!

In terms of functionality lost, a lot of the Engage type interactions could be built in Storyline. The nice thing about having Engage is that they're pre built so it's an even faster development. It's also worth noting that currently Storyline doesn't support the import of Studio 13 content, and that will be included in the next version - in the meantime, you can use the method detailed here to add the content as a web object.

In may also help answer some questions if you review this comparison chart of Studio '13 and Storyline.

You won't be able to edit Engage interactions from within Storyline, you'd still need Engage. This would be true of all products, you'd need the actual product to make edits - although not necessarily to include the content within your course.

Please feel free to let us know if you need anything else!
