Storyline - course completion in LMS not working on exit
Jan 22, 2013
Hi
Have viewed a few posts re this but can't seem to get any resolution.
I have created an LMS course but cannot get the course to 'Completed' status The exit button in the player does not seem to work, so have deleted that. I have tried creating a manual 'EXIT COURSE' button on the end slide but nothing happens either when I click on this within LMS. If I close the browser window it changes the status of the course from ' NOT ATTEMPTED' to 'INCOMPLETE' (published SCORM 1.2, Complete/Incomplete option) but even though I view all slides (have option to only view 28 of the 30) it will not change status to COMPLETED.
For previous courses created in Presenter when I click on the EXIT button in player it jumps to the goodbye.html file message located within the published lms folder.
Is there a way I can include a trigger to execute some javascript to force the training to jump to the goodbye.html file once the EXIT COURSE button is clicked. If yes, do you think this would resolve the problem??
Am on a deadline to deliver these courses (10 in all) and this is the last stumbling block I need to overcome.
Hope you can help.
Thanks
Cath.

So glad to see that Ashley was able to assist you, Katie!
I wanted to mention in case you weren't aware, when you reply to a forum notification via email, the details in your signature are visible publicly within the post. If you'd like to remove that info, simply use the EDIT button beneath your post and you should be all set! :)
Thank you Christie - edited :)
Hi Ashley,
Turns out I did not solve it. I changed the number of slides that needed to be viewed to be considered completed (changed it much lower than it really is) and reloaded into our LMS Canvas and it is still not registering as complete. I tested in Blackboard lms also and I am having the same problem. All 4 were created with the same version of storyline - 3 are working fine and registering completed however this one is the one that is giving me trouble. Thank you for any help/suggestions.
Thanks Katie for continuing to keep us posted - can you share the .story file which is the file you have been editing? I'd want to take a look at the publish settings and then look at publishing and uploading to SCORM Cloud to test it myself. You could also look at uploading it to SCORM Cloud as it's an industry standard to see how it behaves there. This article will walk you through a number of troubleshooting steps to help you test it there.
Hi Ashley I guess I don't know how to share the .story file b/c everything I am trying is not working. I will attempt to work though the troubleshooting steps. Thank you.
Hi Katie,
If you have the .story file you could use the button at the bottom of the reply window "Add Attachment" to upload it here. That would allow you to share the file with us to take a look at how it set up to publish and then the behavior that we see. If you're unable to upload here you can also send along to me here.
I'm having the same problem, except I have 1 course, and for the same course, some learners report completion on the LMS and some don't. I'd say roughly 20% learners are not able to report completion. So I'm guessing its not the LMS. Under some conditions, the course isn't sending back the 'completed' status. Need to figure out what these conditions are. I have set completion criteria as 29 of 32 slides viewed. Course has no graded questions, so no result slide. Has anyone faced this before? Any ideas?
Hi Bhumija, sorry to hear your users are having this trouble. Have you already reviewed the information here in terms of troubleshooting common LMS issues? Also, is it possible to find out what browsers the 20% of learners are using? I'd be interested to see if there's a trend there. We'd want to ensure they're using a supported browser, depending on if they're viewing content in Flash or HTML5.
Hi Alyssa,
I'm not able to get the complete statistics, but some users have reported
that they're taking the training on Chrome v55 (among others), which is the
latest version. So browser and its version doesn't seem to be the issue
here. The common LMS issues link you sent doesn't talk about this problem.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Bhumija
Hi again Bhumija,
At this point I think it would be best to reach out to our support engineers directly so that they can investigate further. They're very experienced in troubleshooting LMS issues, so you'll be in good hands. If you don't mind, please let me know your case number so I can follow along, as well!
Hi Alyssa,
I raised a case like you suggested. 00974083.
Thanks,
Bhumija
Hi there,
Thanks for sharing your case number with me. I can see that you're working with Ryan - he's a rockstar, and you'll be in good hands!
Two issues:
I am using xAPI through LifterLMS on a wordpress install.
1) When i click the exit course button on the results slide, it does not mark the lesson complete. Nothing happens!
2) Now - suddenly - the e-learning lightbox is blank. I do not see any content. I tried updating the tincan record and reloading the file, no luck.
Please help
Hi Ritwik,
Have you tried testing the content in another LMS environment to see if the same problems appear there? That'll help you narrow down whether these issues are related to Storyline or to your LMS.
Give it a try in SCORM Cloud, or attach your original .story file here, and I'll send you a link for testing.
