Storyline course is not tracked completed in Saba LMS

Apr 07, 2014

Hello all,

I hope somebody can help me in this.

I have created quite a long course (43 slides), there are 10 small quizzes (draws from the question banks) and 1 bigger one with a result slide.

Then I published the content and uploaded it to LMS but it was not tracked correctly (after closing the course without finishing the final test - it was moved to completed with unsuccessful state).

I learnt from out LMS administrator, that the success should not be tracked based on the result slide but based on the visit of all slides (e.g. 43) and I did it.

I have created 1 extra slide which is hidden and users have access there just only after suceeding the final exam (from the layer "success").. But now the course is not moved to completed.

First it was not resumed correctly, so I applied this fix: http://en-uk.articulate.com/support/storyline/scorm-12-course-is-never-completed-in-saba-lms-374 and the resuming issue was gone, but still it is not moved to "completed".

I tested the course in Scorm cloud - result as below, not sure if it is correct? But I have no information regarding success status - could be the case? It is the same as in LMS system - result view sais, that the course is complete - but it is not tracked as completed.

More information about the system:

·        LMS: Saba Learning 5.5 SP2

·        Content Format Version: SCORM 1.2

·        Content Format: Deployed SCORM

·        Standard browser: Internet Explorer 9

I tested also in Firefox but with the same outcome.

Please please is there anyone who can help? We need to go live soon and the LMS administrator is not helping much as they said NOW !!! that storyline is not a tested version (at the beggining they said that Storyline should be compatible), that for them it is working perfectly fine with Articulate Studio. But I cannot really re-do all the course again.

Thanks a lot!!

Hi Sarka,

If your LMS tracks completion and success status, like you see in SCORM Cloud, you'll want to report both statuses, choose either Passed/Incomplete or Passed/Failed when publishing Storyline content. Completed/Incomplete and Completed/Failed report only the completion status.

The fix you shared, shouldn't have changed your resume behavior but should have allowed the course to be listed as completed as you saw in SCORM Cloud. If the Resume wasn't working as expected, I'd check into what you enabled as the Resume behavior in Storyline and whether or not you selected to let the LMS handle it.

Hello Ashley,

Thank you for your answer.

I have applied your fix (I chose the report status "Passed/Failed") and re-published my project.

I have sent it to our LMS administrator, so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to test it.

I have checked in Scorm Cloud and there is 1 problematic thing: The course is shown as completed/passed (as below) already even before I reach the final Quiz (I went through all the slides + small quizzes questions and before the final quiz I closed the window).

It could be related to the problem with counting I suppose, as my course is shown just with 43 slides but actually it has more - the quizzes are counted as 1 slide, but inside there are more of them.

Anyway, is there any way how to modify the configuration that is counted properly? I am thinking that maybe it can be done if I insert all the questions as normal slides and not as a draw from question bank. Is there any other way? Because if I do it like this, I will not be able to shuffle the questions in the final quizz and choose each attempt a different draw from the question bank.

Thank you very much for your help.
