Storyline course published in LMS shows incomplete content in a slide.

May 18, 2020

We had published a training for our client's LMS and it was working fine for many months but now we receive errors, which looked quite illogical. Some of the slides did not show some content so the user could not proceed and complete the course. It happened only for few users while for others it worked fine. It does not look like a browser or Internet issues as the user has tried it on different browsers and devices. Also the slide looked like completely loaded as the content missing was the middle section of the slide. I am not able to re-generate the bug but the client has sent the screenshot of the error. Has anyone faced this issue before? What could be the possible reason for this?

The screenshot is attached to this message. The missing content is a third rectangle between the two rectangles after the text. Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Vaishali

Hi Vaishali,

Thank you for reaching out! How odd that the course content is disappearing.

A couple of questions for you as we dive in here:

If you can share the file with us, we're always more than happy to take a close look! You can share files in this thread, or you're always welcome to share them privately here. We'll let you know our findings and will delete it after reviewing the file!

Hi Vincent,

Thank you for your reply.  I cannot reach the same problem at my end but some of the persons at  client side encountered this situation.  I am sorry that I cannot share the course file as it is highly confidential but I can give some details.

1. The LMS is Totara.

2. The publishing options used are attached.

I asked the client to restart the course and then it worked fine. They were resuming the course so everytime, it showed the same saved slide with missing content. So, the problem looks like communication with LMS. But I just wanted to confirm, if there are any settings which need to be changed from within SL so that this is not repeated? Could we suggest/change any settings related to SCORM status saved to LMS?

Thanks,

Vaishali

Hi Vaishali,

Thank you for those details! That helps out greatly as we try to pinpoint the issue here.

Based on the information and screenshot you shared, I do not see anything that would need to be changed. Since you are not able to recreate the issue on your side either, it may be best to connect with the LMS provider to help troubleshoot the issue. In case this helps, you can provide a debug log if they request one. You can find those details on how to do this here:

Please keep us updated on this and let us know if you have any questions! We are happy to help!
