I'm trying to use the Record Screen function in Storyline 2. Every time I click the Record Screen or Record Your Screen buttons, Storyline disapprears. The process is still running (according to Task Manager), but there's nothing.
Hi, was there any resolution on this one? I've got the same issue, Storyline closes (but process still running) when clicking on Record screen. I've repaired my Storyline but no luck. I always work from C drive. I also have Replay installed as that's been my workaround but it's now started to crash when I hit Publish. Any ides? Should I not have Replay installed with Storyline? As said, I work from C drive and my filepaths are not too long. Any assistance appreciated. Oh, and this occurs on any course, it's not just the one i'm currently creating.
Hi, Rodney -- Thanks for reaching out here, and I took a look in our support case system and unfortunately, I was unable to locate a ticket for Jim. You'd be welcome to reach out to him directly using the 'Contact Me' link on his profile page if you'd like to inquire as to any resolution he may have reached.
Otherwise, we appreciate that you've shared details of the troubleshooting steps that you've taken thus far, and as it sound like you have already run through the recommended repair steps, it may be time to share your error logs for further investigation by our support staff. Please check out that link for additional instructions. :)
Hi, Jim -- Thanks for your reply to Rodney! I just wanted to note since you appear to have replied via email that the details in your signature are visible publicly here in the thread. If you would care to remove that info, simply click on the EDIT button beneath your post. :)
Thx Jim and Christine. I've followed all the repair instructions (which i've done successfully in the past when i get unexpected behaviour) to no avail. I was using Replay as a workaround but it now also crashes just before publishing completes and I lose the entire MP4 i'm trying to create. I don't know what else to try, any suggestions?
Hi, Rodney -- Thanks for your response! As I mentioned a bit earlier, at this point I think it might be a good idea if our Support Engineers were able to take a look at your error logs to further diagnose what is going on. I will be happy to follow along with your case, and share relevant updates here in the thread for others who may be having a similar experience.
Hi, Rodney -- I just wanted to touch base to see if you were able to discover a resolution to your issue, as I searched in our ticketing system and did not see a case for you on this topic. Could you let me know if you have a case number you can share or let us know if you are all set? :)
I've resolved this one but unfortunately I don't know how. After uninstalling and reinstalling several times (this usually resolves an glitches i get in Storyline) I left it for the night and when I tried the next morning, it worked! I didnt make any changes between these times. Sorry I can't shed any light on this one.
Thanks Rodney and it looks like you shared this update in another thread as well. Repairing and restarting Storyline as a whole are always good ideas and steps to go through when things are misbehaving.

Hi Jim,
Have you looked to confirm that you're working locally as described here? Working off a network drive or USB is known to cause issues with Storyline.
Also if the behavior continues, I'd look at conducting a repair or reaching out to Support
Hi Kristin,
Yes, I'm working locally. I'll try the repair.
Thanks,
Jim.
Thanks Jim,
Let us know if this helps.
No joy. It's still crashing when I try to record the screen. I'll send something in to support.
Thanks Jim,
Here is the link.

Hi Rodney,
No, I never heard anything about it. I never found a solution. One of our people just went with Replay but didn't like the finished product.
Jim.
