Storyline- Drag and Drop not exporting correctly

Jan 14, 2014

I have created 2 drag and drop activities using Storyline.  Both of them work exactly the way I want when I am in Storyline (in preview). However, when I export the files to put them into an online course (publish via Web, with all options under publishing for HTML5 and mobile devices checked) it somehow seems to scramble the answers so that the right answers come out wrong and vice versa.  I have attached one of the files for you to look at.  Again, the activity works in Articulate, but when I export it the answers are suddenly all wrong...HELP!

Hi Elizabeth and welcome to Heroes!

When you're testing it, what is not behaving correctly? I loaded it to a web server (here on Tempshare) and everything seems to be working the same as in preview mode. You'll want to make sure that when you're ready to test your published content you test within the intended environment.

Ashley, the file seems to work, but the answers are different.  For instance, the answer to example 1 should be "ask inferential questions".  When I am previewing the activity in articulate storyline, this shows as the correct response.  However, when I publish to the web (I am loading it in Moodle), if I drag that response to example 1 it tells me that answer is incorrect.  This happens for almost all of the responses (somehow a couple are working correctly between both files).

Hi Elizabeth,

I took another look at your .story file and noticed a few odd things,

1. The answers within the "edit drag and drop" show that example 1's answer is "use explicit clues"

Which does not match what you've set up with the "dropped" trigger for each question. I'm seeing the "correct" dropped layers on my Tempshare version, which since you mentioned publishing to web is where I placed it. If you're going to be hosting within Moodle, you'll want to publish for LMS.  Also, there were multiple triggers that didn't seem to match what you were trying to do, and may just be overkill and overthinking the set up.

So, I stripped down your triggers and started from semi scratch - and based it on what are the correct answers listed above. Take a look at the triggers and how the course behaves when using "Use Explicit Cues" rectangle. I only did that one, so you'd need to update it for the others.

Let me know if you have other questions.
