Storyline Drag and Drop question

Oct 24, 2014

Hi guys,

I just downloaded the free trial of Storyline 2 last week, and I'm working on my first module.  I'm trying to create a drag and drop and am having 2 issues with it:

1) when I look at it in edit view, everything is lined up properly, but when I look at it in preview mode, several of my drag pieces are shifted.

2) My drop targets are pie shaped, which makes them overlap each other, so when I drop the answers they affect the other drag items, and I think some drop targets are blocking other drop targets, is there a solution to this or do I need to find a different shape for my drag items?

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!!!

Thank you :)

Hello Sara,

Please make sure you are working locally a described here with your .story file.

Also, please make sure you are viewing using the recommended DPI settings for Storyline.

Have you tested this in published mode to see if it happening there?

We do recommend to view your content in the environment for which it was published:

Web: Upload your presentation to a web server and view the content with a valid http address.
LMS: Upload your presentation to your LMS, then login as an end-user and view the course. or use the SCORM Cloud, the industry standard for testing.
Articulate Online: Upload your presentation to your Articulate Online account.
Offline: If you'll be distributing your content offline, publish for CD.

oh thank you! so you didn't change anything, you just imported into a new file? I tried duplicating the slide and the issue remained on the new slide, but when I run the file you uploaded it's fixed.

When I do the question myself, it's telling me I'm giving the wrong answer when it is right.  Is there a way to show the solution to see what the module thinks is correct so I can fix it? I have double checked that the form is set up properly, so I'm not sure why it's telling me I'm wrong.

Hello Sara!

Sometimes importing into a new file can correct issues. As well as sometimes just copying the items into a new slide can as well.

To check the answers, Click on Form View, then Drag and Drop options in the top navigation bar. You can check the set up for correct answers. Just to make sure they all copied over correctly.
